Our GoFundMe Campaign

Our GoFundMe Campaign has raised £2455 so far! We are so grateful to everyone who has donated towards the cause!

We would like to raise at least another £1755 so we can pay for 1 ADHD babe a month to get a free ADHD diagnosis throughout 2024!

Outreach Building

In-house training on Neurodiversity with ELBA

Our Founder, Vivienne, hosted an online information session with ELBA's Inclusion Group in December. She spoke about her personal journey with gaining a diagnosis, ADHD Babes and how to be inclusive within the workplace! Check out the amazing work ELBA do through their website.

Panel Discussion with Start-Up Wandsworth

To celebrate Black History Month and the theme of 'Saluting our Sisters', Wandsworth council put on a free panel discussion and event discussing Women in Business. Vivienne took part in the panel discussion touching on the barriers women face within the workplace and the intersection of being a Black disabled Woman. We hope to join more spaces where Black Women are celebrated in the new year!

ADHD Babes is available for workshops, panels and webinars on neurodiversity and inclusive working.

ADHD Women’s Wellbeing Podcast

Vivienne joined Kate Moryoussef and Kim Raine on the ADHD Women’s Wellbeing Podcast to speak about work-life balance, entrepreneurship and burnout with ADHD.

Topics covered included:

Advocating for yourself and others
Knowing your limits
Trusting your different ways of working
Hyperfocus and 'sprinting' Workaholism and plenty more.

Community Collaborations

3rd Anniversary Celebration & Fundraiser

We gathered together at M'Nuchah - A Resting Place to celebrate our anniversary; 3 years of Black Babes Magic!

We held the event as a fundraiser which raised £748. Thank you to all who came, we appreciate you all!

Print Making & Social Justice Workshop

Our last in-person workshop of the year was held at the Lewisham Art House! We engaged in a peer-led workshop exploring communication of the lived experience of ADHD Black women and Non-binary people navigating the intersection of health, employment, legal and social contexts through conversation and learning basic monoprint techniques. There was no predetermined outcome. We were gauging if people were interested in this kind of creative research and how we may want to try and communicate it to institutions that impact our communities. It was such an impactful evening; we hope to run more this year!

Performance Workshop

It was an electrifying evening of creativity, talent, and community at our first-ever Performance Workshop. It featured a unique showcase of emerging artists. This included music, poetry, and theatre by artists from our community; this platform for artistic exploration was also an opportunity for artists to receive audience feedback to continue refining the work we get to see on stage. Audience members could also sign up for one of our open-mic slots. Thank you to all who took part. We can’t wait for the next one, which will be a full-blown Scratch Night on 28/03 at Albany Theatre!

Knit & Sip

Our last knit & sip of the year was special! A peer-led laid-back social to chill, connect and practise knitting with other babes! It was led by our sisters in yarn, Ayesha and Azeezat, who taught us some knitting basics! Thank you to all who made this possible and a special shout out to Christine who celebrated her birthday with us that night! Funded by the Mayor London BSC Grant!

Financial Vision Board Workshop

Ben-Oní (@blackneurodiversity) hosted a second edition of their 'Financial Vision Board' workshop.

We spent an hour creating a physical or virtual vision board that captured the question, " What do you want from money? “

At the end, participants had the chance to share in small groups their vision boards and their personal reflections on the exercise.

They also had an opportunity to discuss goals, emotions or values attached to them. This was not only a fun and creative activity with our community but also a powerful tool to align financial decisions with our personal life goals. Thank you, Ben-Oní, for facilitating this, and thank you to all who attended!

Our Team

Team Social

We had our first team link-up! We went for lunch and to an interactive gaming centre. We all had such an amazing time sharing space as a team, which we had never been able to do before. We look forward to hosting more this year and enjoying more Black babe joy!

We ran in-house training based on the team’s feedback to help us host our support group effectively.

Spotlight: ‘Out of the Box’ Campaign

Casira won our ‘Out of the Box’ Competition!

Her article entitled “I’m a Black Woman, I Have ADHD, and I Need to be Heard” was a powerful piece that I’m sure you will relate to.

“Energetic little white boys are the (literal) poster children of ADHD, and everyone else suffers because of that. Little girls are under-diagnosed and grow into women who attribute their symptoms to personal shortcomings. And that’s to say nothing about the medical community’s penchant for ignoring Black women altogether.”

Every two weeks, we'll invite you to a new episode hosted by members of ADHD Babes. Join them to share their experiences of living with ADHD as a black woman or non-binary person.

Walk with them in their journey of learning about our wonderful brains and all the things that come with living in a world where you have to manage multiple intersectionalities.
